August 26th 1860.

Sir,

I have the honour to report that the Expedition encamped on the first night (20th instant) at Essendon.

On the 2nd night (21st inst) we halted at the Inverness Hotel.

On the third night (22nd inst) at Capt. Gardiner's Station, Bolinda.

On the 4th night (23rd inst) at Lancefield.

On the 5th night (24th inst) at Dr Baynton's Station.

On the 6th night at the Mia Mia Inn and I intend to remain here until tomorrow morning when we shall proceed on towards the Murray by Matheson's public house.

The weather has been unfavourable and the roads consequently very bad, yesterday I was obliged to leave all the wagons behind, but they have all arrived today.

The men are in good health, the camels and horses in good condition.

Doctor Macadam
Secretary, Exploring Expedition

The camels have suffered slightly from the severity of the weather but owing to the care and vigilance of Mr Landells' no accident has happened to these. I enclose an account of the money expended and received.

Sir, your most obt servant,
R O'Hara Burke,
Leader
